Internet Blackjack Strategy
For those who have seen the Kevin Spacey film ‘Twenty-One’, you will probably have a very glamourous image of Blackjack. An image peppered with gorgeous women, classy-looking drinks and where card counting is one of the easiest skills in the world.
Unfortunately, life is seldom like the movies and there are a few simple things worth remembering that can greatly improve your chances of walking away with more chips from the table.
Firstly, start with the basics.
It is true that card counting can be an incredibly lucrative system of making money from Blackjack, but like any skill that is going to make you a lot of money, it one that needs an awful lot of practise and time invested to do it properly.
It is also true that you must crawl before you can walk, and in Blackjack terms, crawling means mastering Blackjack’s basic strategy.
Basic strategy is a system of charts and figures, which statistically predict the appropriate move you should make for every hand you are dealt in a game of Blackjack.
These systems have been painstakingly worked out by over the course of years of research and computer simulation, all so that you don’t have to.
Basic strategy is widely available and it is imperative that you learn it inside and out before attempting any of the more advanced tactics, such as card counting.
By simply knowing, and applying basic Blackjack strategy it has been suggested that you can reduce almost any online casino’s house advantage in the game for around 7%-8%, to a much more acceptable 1%.
Another important point to remember, is to make note of whether you will be playing single or multiple deck games. This is vital, as there are different basic strategies to know and apply for each instance.
Once you have basic strategy down, you may want to move on to learning to card count, but as previously mentioned this can take years of practise.
If you don’t have the will or time to card count, these simple tips can also help improve your performance at the tables:
Choose the tables you play at, and the players you play with wisely. Some people will invariably be better at Blackjack than others, and some tables have a greater house advantage.
Manage your money wisely. Blackjack is a game where you can expect to lose the occasional hand, but don’t let this start to become the norm. If you’re in it for the long-haul, managing your total funds is key.
